The Xbox app is a free companion to Microsoft's Xbox gaming ecosystem, letting users manage games, clips, friends, parties, purchases, Game Pass, and console features from a phone or tablet. Its purpose is tied to Xbox hardware, accounts, games, and services rather than being a standalone free app experience.
- Users like being able to download and share game clips from their console.
- Friends, messages, achievements, and party chat are accessible away from the console.
- Remote game installation and other console-management tools add useful companion features.
- Recent reviewers repeatedly report party-chat connection and audio problems.
- Game invites and other online features can fail when Xbox services are having issues.
