Canva AI Photo & Video Editor
Is Canva AI Photo & Video Editor free? Free with a Catch.
Pricing: Canva's core design tools remain usable free, while Pro and Business add premium assets, larger storage, brand tools, collaboration features, and substantially higher AI allowances. Optional paid features: Canva Pro ($144/year for one person); Canva Business ($250/year per person).
Designing posts, presentations, invitations, thumbnails, and other graphics is genuinely usable for free, but the paid tier increasingly shapes what tools, assets, and output quality are available. The free version still works; it just no longer feels as generous as it once did.
- Reviewers repeatedly praise the templates and ease of creating social posts, presentations, invitations, and thumbnails.
- Several reviewers explicitly say the free version is still useful for work, school, and personal projects.
- Users value the wide range of editing and design tools in one app.
- Multiple reviewers say more features and assets have shifted behind paid Canva tiers.
- One reviewer says free-version image quality has worsened compared with earlier use.
- Recent reviews complain that new AI features and interface changes make the app slower or harder to use.
- An account and online connection are required even for local app use.
